When someone you love becomes a memory, that memory becomes a treasure. You may find, from time to time, treasured memories sneak out of your eyes and roll down your cheeks. You try not to miss them, but in the end, you just do, and that’s OK too.
Sometimes you just have to stop, close your eyes and hug them, even if it’s only in your mind.
When my mother died, the family gathered to take what items they wanted from her humble home. My only request was an old suitcase, which I travelled to England with when I was 10 years old, filled with my mother’s clothes, to be recycled into quilts for my nieces, her granddaughters.
For me, preserving her memory for them was paramount. They adored their grandmother and her smell lingered in the fabric of her garments. Now each time they miss her and feel sad, they can once again feel her arms around them in the warm embrace of the quilt from her clothing.
It’s with that in mind that I created “Treasure Memory” Dolls, made from items of clothing or fabrics from a special person in a child’s, or adults, life. Perhaps it’s a treasured member of the family now passed, or a memory you wish to be preserved for special reasons of your own.
Every doll is designed, in consultation with you, at your personalisation call, and lovingly and beautifully crafted, with no two dolls ever the same.
It’s my privilege to be able to support you in preserving your memories with an Ātaahua “Treasure Memory” Doll.
